| Family life is now more important than career |
In each life there are events which direct the fate abruptly into completely different courses. As is the case for Rachel Ward and the series The Thorn Birds. For the actress who plays Meggie, a daughter of a farmer in the bitter-sweet dear history of the father Ralph, the way to a world career opened - with everything by overwhelming success that belongs to: Hollywood, fame and wealth. But Rachel, who hated ways determined by youth on, did not seize at the same time the resolution to out-cost this privilege by any means fully. Reason: her film married man Bryan Brown (46) whom she married in 1983, right after finishing The Thorn Birds.
" Frankly speaking, my family is more important to me than the career. I would not like my child to tell me on the telephone how she is going", says the 36-year-old Rachel. That does not mean that she does not want to know anything about films. But when she is offered a role, she travels with the whole family: with her husband and children: Mathilda (8), Rose (7) and their small son who was born last year. Or she works for the Australian television and theatre. Australia is by their marriage the new homeland of the native British actress, coming from the English aristocracy. In Australia, the married couple has two houses; on the large farm (with four dogs and six horses) Rachel Ward is not only wife and mother. She milks the cows, feeds chickens, works in the garden.
Future plans? The attractive actress with the large brown eyes (as a 16-year-old girl she was a photo model) has completely concrete desires: " roles in which not only my beauty is in the foreground but also the actress qualifications - and still more children!"
